Dear friends, it is with great sadness that I must inform you that, upon much reflection, I have decided that I prefer to live in my own world. So while I may appear to be present at events, sitting beside you, working with you on a project, training with you, I am actually thinking about words, colours and sounds, remembering things, recognising patterns and imagining scenarios. I will still be available for brief communications via slapping me in the face and screaming, ‘Snap out of it, Nick!’.
To present and future employers: As long as the job involves thinking about words, colours and sounds, remembering things, recognising patterns and imagining scenarios we’re good (just don’t slap me, that’s some sort of workplace harassment – I promise to pay attention during meetings and take notes!).
